The Ferryman

The Ferryman

'Ferry me across the water,
Do,boatman,do.'
'If you've penny in our purse,
I'll ferry you.'

'I have a penny in my purse,
And my eyes are blue:
So ferry me across the water,
Do,boatman,do.'

'Step into my ferry-boat,
Be they black or blue,
And for the penny in your purse
I'll ferry you.'

Rainforest Song

Rainforest Song

Forest,my mother,feed me your fruit.
Forest,my father,trace me my root.
Forest,my shelter,spread me your shade,
As I walk i n the glow of our green forest glade.

Forest of whispers and intricate ways,
Forest of spirts that slip through your maze,
Forest of mystery,subtle and deep,
You glide like a snake through my waking
      and sleep.

Forest, the home of my eye and my hand,
Forest,the meaning i understand,
Forest, the ground where I place my tread,
Where I breath my being and pillow my head,

Forest,the world I depend upon,
Where will i walk when my forest has gone?

Bump!

Bump!

Things that go bump! in the night,
Should not really give one a fright.
It's the whole in each ear
That lets in fear,
That,and the absence of light!

monday's child is fair of face

monday's child is fair of  face

moday's child is fair of face,
tuesday's child is full of grace,
wednesday's child is full of woe,
thursday's child has far to go,
fridays child is loving and giving
saturday's child works hard for his living,
and the child that born on sabbath day
is bonny andblithe, and good and gay

down by the school gate

down by the school gate

there goes the bell
it's half past three
and soon by the school gate
you will see ...

... ten mums in coats,talking
nine babes in  prams,squaking
eight dads their cars parking
seven dogs on leads barking
six toddlers all squabbling
five grans on bike wobbling
four child-minders running
three bus drivers sunning

two teenagers dating
one lollipop man waiting...

the school is out,
it's half past three
and the first to the school gate
...is me

what someone said when he was spanked on the day before his birthday

some day
i may
pack my bag and run
away.
some day
i may.
-but not today.

some night
i might
slip away in the
moonlight.
i might.
some night.
-but not tonight.

some night.
some day.
i might.
i may.
-but right now i'll stay

magic carpet

magic carpet,
your bright colours
delight the eye.

your moons and stars
and midnight blues
sing of the sky.

magic carpet,
kept in the cupboard,
i hear you sigh.

let me unroll
your magic pattern
and help you fly
